An upgrade of KB25! For those that have done that kettlebell workout many times, know the sequence, understand the technique and have built up the strength to comfortably breeze through KB25; this one is your upgrade, it’s for you! This is both a strength AND cardiovascular workout. If you find yourself really focusing on your breath, you feel your heart rate going up, you feel fatigue; then you know you are working at the right intensity for strength and cardiovascular benefits. This class is high intensity!

A big thank you, to my stellar student, for her incredibly strong and precise demonstration. And for her enthusiasm in assisting in this film production. If you have ever been asked to be in front of the camera, representing someone’s work and teachings (I have on several occasions), then you know well the apprehension and pressure that comes with that task. It’s not a small ask and it takes a lot of confidence to move for recordings, that many will see and observe (including many teachers!). In a moment when I’m unable to demonstrate resistance training at this intensity, I feel very fortunate to have someone with boldness, skill and generosity, to help me out.

Having someone else demonstrate, highlights that every movement will look different on every individual. We are not designed to all look the same when we move and we shouldn’t set our goals based on how our teacher moves (and certainly not base it on how their movement looks). Teachers have parameters and guidelines, that offer direction and instruction, but we all have different strengths and challenges, a unique architecture and a history of our own adapted movement qualities; meaning that we should strive for our own meaningful ‘purpose’ - not an arbitrary perfection.

Like many of you; this superstar student demonstrates something that is meaningful. Consistency. Showing up over and over again, even when work is busy and with family commitments. You know… when life gets in the way! Life isn’t linear, there are little (or big) traumas, injuries, complications. And yet those people will persevere and show up for themselves; for their physical health and (maybe more importantly) for their mental health. Over and over, again.

I have drawn so much strength from the hundreds (at least?) of people I’ve taught over 20 years, in many continents! In this challenging phase of rehabilitation, I’ve reflected on those individuals that showed me what true perseverance and commitment looks like. Defying the odds and showing up, over and over again, with determination and courage. I say with a lot of emotion, they have been my inspiration. They define optimistic movement in its pure form. I have tried my best to channel all those beautiful humans who showed me what it looks like, to fight for a better outcome. Especially in a moment, when your motivation is at its lowest. I thank you. What a gift it is to be a teacher and now truly! - a real student of this craft.
