BALL BASICS

An introduction to moving with the ball. Exploring many foundational Pilates exercises, such as; bridging, prone hip extension and table top to build gentle strength and awareness for the abdominals. We add ankle variations in bridging to build strength through the feet and lower limb. This is a great introductory class for postpartum and rehabilitation. Or for anyone wishing to revise the principles of Pilates.

GAIT SERIES

A wonderful Chair series that is highly functional for building strength and control in the lower limb. Great for both fitness and rehabilitation. Can be practiced with a Wunda chair, or chair attachment on your Garuda apparatus. Highly appropriate and useful for runners. Also, great for pelvic awareness and stability, therefore great for hip and spine pathologies. Great exercise for building strength and endurance for walking downstairs and trekking! Here, I am using Elements Level Loops* and Elements Y Loops (for hands) *- originally this sequence was designed without any support for balance, but I have integrated options for support during rehabilitation.

UPPER LIMB STRENGTH

Working on shoulder mobility, stability and strength. Gentle, gradual upper body weight-loading, using the wall. This sequence is a great pre-requisite before advancing to full plank on the ground. Therefore great for upper limb rehabilitation or foundational strengthening. In saying that; advanced students will find, if you are using the soft ball, it adds a beneficial proprioceptive challenge, as it moves! Especially for push ups with two soft balls! Remember the further away from the wall you are, the more challenging it will be! Play around with your balls! Size, density etc… will add a different input and challenge. You can also do this class without equipment; you can use a cloth for the circles & spirals, on a smooth wall.
