SPIRAL

Circumnavigate, from a seated position. With the support and feedback of the sling; you invite the body into expansive three-dimensional movement.

The Sling offers a guide with many possibilities to explore the space around you. All from a seated position. This tutorial helps you explore pathways for rotation, extension and spiral. Helping you navigate space with more awareness, spinal expression and freedom.

Every movement contains a spiral, even the ones that are termed linear. A winding and unwinding through the joints, tissues and fascia that gives the body its fluidity and intelligence. Nothing in the body truly works in flat lines. Movement is layered, coiled, responsive.

Here I’m using the Elements Wide Sling — Mirage Gold (standard size)

With long purple (medium) springs. I’m also using the Elements Grips for Bars for comfortability.

INTENSITY: MEDIUM

Once you begin to recognise spirals, it becomes difficult not to see them everywhere. They start to change the way you experience movement entirely. You begin to sense, visualise, and articulate the body in a spiral.

It becomes a kind of fascination, then an obsession. Because the more you feel spirals, the more movement begins to make sense.

Not necessarily a taxing physical class, on the contrary, it’s designed to be mobilising and nurturing to the nervous system, with the support of the sling. However, the practice requires some familiarity with the sling and multi-planar / 3D movement. Due to the complexity of this tutorial, a base familiarity with the sling is necessary to fully enjoy the exploratory nature of the practice.
