Barre & Sling

This tutorial explores the complementary relationship between the Barre and the Sling, using the shared movement inputs of traction, mobilisation, and elongation to support a more organised and responsive body.

Here, we are applying the principle of opposition. The body functions through a constant conversation of forces moving in different opposing directions. Applying traction in opposite directions helps to educate this principle clearly and physically, facilitating a deeper, integrated experience. The result is a practice that feels spacious and deeply informative for the whole system.

The Barre offers closed chain feedback and directional support, while the Sling offers suspension, decompression and dynamic assistance/resistance.

Here I’m using the Elements Wide Sling — Mirage Gold (standard size)

With long purple (medium) springs. The Elements Long Sling is also a great option for this practice.

Together (the Barre & Sling), create an experience that helps create space in the joints, mobilising the spine and limbs. Whilst educating a sense of opposition, elongation, activation and extension throughout the body.
