This tutorial is an invitation to get curious, explore the transitions and enjoy the ebb and flow of the tidal carriage …

This sling and apparatus tutorial uses the pulleys to create a rhythmical, tidal rocking.

Inviting the body into a continuous dance of reaching, yielding and flowing.

Explore Garuda matwork and yoga sequences with the added dimension of a moving carriage and the wonderfully tangible feedback of the sling. Familiar movements become fresh discoveries as you play with support, traction and the fluidity from one movement into the next.

Practised on the Garuda apparatus or, with some adaptations, a Pilates Reformer.

Using the Elements Pilates Reformer Safety Footstrap. You can also use the Elements Long Sling (shorter setting) or the Elements Wide Sling (and adjust pulleys to a shorter length, for the desired resistance / feedback). I’m using the Elements Grips for Bars to prevent any slipping.

Finishing with a gentle diaphragm massage, drawing attention to the pelvic floor and breath.
